Anchor manages care home estates for older people aswell as running their own vibrant retirement villages. In total Anchor workwith over forty thousand older people on a weekly basis. They employ over10,000 staff in over 100 care homes and their retirement villages across thewhole of the UK. Anchor work with local authorities and primary care trustsacross England to provide older people with care services and retirementsolutions tailored to meet their needs.
Anchor activelyrecruit and rely upon their network of volunteers who help older people makefriends, get out and about and take up new activities.
Anchor TrustStarted in 1968 as Help the Aged (Oxford) Housing Association, their firstsheltered housing schemes were opened in 1970 and they created Guardian HousingAssociation in 1972, providing sheltered leasehold flats. Anchor's first carehome opened in 1982, they now provide care in around 100 residential andnursing care homes across the UK and their first scheme of retirementproperties for rent with care services opened in 1997.
